Devuan GNU+Linux is a free software operating system for your computer. Free software means you are free to use, copy and distribute, study, change the software, and share your modifications with the community.

This is where you can store your configuration files for software repositories. You may also use a single file: /etc/apt/sources.list.

Administrative commands such as apt, apt-get, aptitude, synaptic, etc., use these files to find packages to download from the network or some offline media such as a CD or a DVD.

Here are some example files:

# /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan-stable-security.list

deb jessie-security main
deb-src jessie-security main
# /etc/apt/sources.list.d/devuan-stable-updates.list
