How you Can Help
Thank you for your interest in supporting Devuan!
You can mirror and translate the static web at devuan.org. If you provide a primary mirror for your language, we can offer <lang>.devuan.org where <lang> is the locale (e.g., de, en, es, fr, it, en-US, zn-CH…)
We can also host your translations on the main devuan.org server.
A continuous flow of income allows the project to be sustainable. Expenses range from IT to travel and hosting costs, and remuneration of people working on Devuan. We believe “volunteer” has a distinct meaning than “free labor” and time and talent spent on the projects should be rewarded accordingly. Devuan is made of humans, and we intend them to stay alive!
If you can afford it and you’re committed to helping Devuan, please consider a recurring donation, as minimal as it may be: it contributes to the stability of the project and its capacity to plan in advance.
Donations can be made in Bitcoin, EUR, USD, via bank transfer, Stripe, or PayPal.
You can show your support with Devuan-branded tee-shirts, stickers, and more. Have a look at our shop, these make a great conversation starter.
Sponsor a Devuan Gathering
Corporate donors can sponsor specific events to support the community in exchange for exposure. We’re looking for partners promoting free software, responsible and sustainable businesses who share our vision for a free, inclusive society.
There are several ways to help Devuan with bandwith:
you can seed our Release Torrents (current release is 10.5GB) that contain all images, live CDs, and installers for all platforms, virtual machines, specific ARM devices. This is very useful because it enables less popular platforms to be shared equally. If you have a few Gigabytes of storage and the availably bandwidth for torrenting, this is the ideal way to help Devuan.
you can mirror the release files via a simple and documented procedure using rsync. The same amount of storage than the torrent is necessary, as files.devuan.org is the source for the torrent. Mirroring the Devuan release archive is more suited to ISPs and universities, who have a lot of available bandwidth and few limitations.
Mirroring Devuan packages is being documented…
If you can provide a server in a data center, we can probably make good use of it. If you have space in your data center, we can also buy a server and rack it there.
We’re looking to expand our capacity to automatically build Devuan packages on different architectures, preferrably ARM devices and rare architectures.
Hardware vendors are welcome to send sample machines for Devuan developers to work with. According to the availability of interested developers, delivery may change, therefore you should make your gift in the appropriate topic in talk.do: Donating Build Machines to the Devuan Project.
If you have a place where a dozen people could work on Devuan for a few days in great conditions, you’re very welcome to invite for a documentation book sprint or a devuan gathering.
Face-to-face meetings are not only productive, they also nurture the community.
